Who Should Attend
The 12-hour Prescribing and Pharmacology course* is designed for physicians of all specialties, physician assistants and certified registered nurse practitioners and nurse midwives who need or wish to increase their knowledge and ability to effectively prescribe controlled medications that have the potential for misuse and abuse.*

* To obtain a QACSC, PAs, CRNPs and CNMs are required to take this entire 12-hour course.  To renew a QACSC, PAs, CRNPs and CNMs must attend 4 hours of the 12-hour Prescribing of Controlled Drugs course, or any other Board-approved Prescribing of Controlled Substances course listed atwww.albme.org/cscme.html, every two years.

Course Description
Prescribing of Controlled Drugs*

8-hour course.
This intensive course will enhance the healthcare professional’s ability to effectively prescribe controlled medications while maintaining patient access to pain medications and minimizing misuse and abuse.

Pharmacology of Controlled Drugs*
4-hour course.
This course will enhance the healthcare professionals’ ability to effectively prescribe controlled medications and manage ongoing therapy, evaluating risks and potential benefits of opioid drugs.
