Third Party Task Force

The Third Party Task Force is a subcommittee of the Board of Censors where physician members provide assistance to other physicians in resolving issues and disputes with insurance companies, HMOs, other third party payors, including Medicaid and Medicare and peer review organizations. The Task Force attempts to address those issues and concerns involving payment, peer review regulations, contracting and related issues which would be of common concern to a significant number of association members.

Member physicians requiring the assistance of the Task Force should first call Angela Barentine at (334) 954-2541 to discuss the process.  We ask that you do not send medical records or documents that contain PHI without first consulting the Medical Association.  In some instances matters can be resolved without the transmittal of PHI.  In other instances, the Medical Association will require either a business associate’s agreement and/or an authorization from the patient in order to receive any PHI.

In any case, the Task Force will require that you set forth in a detailed letter exactly what you are requesting from the Task Force, and all of the steps that you have taken to resolve the matter on your own.  All matters submitted to the Task Force will require that member physicians exhaust all remedies with insurers or payors, if possible, prior to submitting the matter.
