Who Should Attend

The 12-hour Prescribing and Pharmacology course is designed for physicians of all specialties, physician assistants and certified registered nurse practitioners and nurse midwives*. 

Course Description

Prescribing of Controlled Drugs
8-hour course.  Saturday in November
This intensive course will enhance the healthcare professional’s ability to effectively prescribe controlled medications while maintaining patient access to pain medications and minimizing misuse and abuse.

Pharmacology of Controlled Drugs
4-hour course.  Sunday in November
This course will enhance the healthcare professionals’ ability to effectively prescribe controlled medications and manage ongoing therapy, evaluating risks and potential benefits of opioid drugs.

*  To obtain a QACSC, PAs and NPs are required to take this entire 12-hour course.  To renew a QACSC, PAs and NPs may take the first 4 hours of the 8-hour Prescribing course, the 4-hour Pharmacology portion or another Board-approved course found on the Board of Medical Examiners website at www.albme.org/cscme.html.
